How to BBQ Chicken on the Grill

How to BBQ chicken? That is one question all barbecue lovers must ask, and that is certainly one question that I always get asked when I go to their houses for a Sunday or lunch BBQ. It is quite simple really, and you do not need any special skills for this. The way I see it, BBQ is all about barbecuing the whole chicken (not just the breast meat), so that is the first thing we have to do. Then you need to season it properly, but before we do that, let us learn how to make it taste good as well!

First things first, before you even think about cooking your whole chicken, you need to remove the wings. You can do this by peeling off the skin and then flipping it over so that it is completely open. If you happen to be using a regular frying pan or wok, this should not be too difficult. If not, you can use a wire rack to hold the chicken in place while you do this next step. If you happen to have a drip tray underneath the heat source of the stove, use that.

Next, you will want to get out your smoker or barbecue grill (if you are going to be barbecuing), and put the tail end of the chicken on there. DO NOT place it over the top, as this will cause smoke to be impeded into the lungs of your poor chicken (the grill probably already had smoke in it anyway), so if you are trying to get that out, move the tail end of it to where the grill is. DO NOT cook the bird until the skin on the back is blackened. Some BBQ recipes will tell you to do this, but if you don’t have one of these instructions, then just go ahead and cook the bird as normal.

Once you have removed both the tail and the skin from the chicken, you can either season or marinade it. Most people prefer to season, but some people like to marinade as well. If you choose to season, go with a variety of spices, from mild to spicy and more. You can also use a variety of different herbs, such as Rosemary, garlic, thyme, oregano, sage, cumin, savory, curry, lemon, etc.

Next, we’ll talk about cooking the chicken on low heat. This may seem counterintuitive since you are going to be cooking the chicken inside of the grill. It is not as bad as you may think! The reason for this is that the inside of the grill has lots of moisture and bacteria which can cause your chicken to become dry before you ever finish cooking it on the coals. So what you want to do is cook the chicken on indirect heat until it is done as directed by your BBQ recipe.

After you’ve finished cooking the whole chicken on low heat, you can then add your spice rub. Most people like to add their special spice rub to give their chicken that extra special flavor. However, if you’re not too good at developing your spice rub, then you can always go to your local mart and pick up some spice rubs. When buying your spice rub, make sure you get ones with a variety of ingredients so that you can mix them up yourself. This is especially important if you have a barbeque that uses different kinds of spice rubs regularly.

Now, let’s talk about how to bbq chicken on the grill. The instructions in your BBQ recipe are usually pretty specific about how long you should cook your meat. In particular, this includes cooking time for your barbecue sauce. If you’re not familiar with how to make your barbecue sauce, then it’s really simple. You just take the store-bought barbecue sauce that comes with your barbecue and marinade it for about two minutes, just long enough to let the flavor penetrate.

Then you want to put the bbq sauce on top of your chicken and cover it up tightly. Leave the lid on for a final coating. Now, you’re done! Your chicken should come out juicy and extremely hot! Just wait until it’s ready and you’ll have a delicious meal your family will love.
